Know this change (and don’t panic) about GoDaddy push as a buyer!

Few months ago, ICANN had made some changes in push/transfer rules. As you know, the market is not very active and it was the first time I received an incoming push today at GoDaddy after the rule change.  The seller said he pushed the domain. As usual, I was expecting the domain in my control panel to accept. Nothing happened for a good 35 minutes except I kept refreshing the incoming transfers section!!

So, here are the steps:

1) Seller pushes the domain in the usual way.

2A) Buyer needs to wait for the email that will approve the contact info change.

2B) Seller also gets the email and needs to be approved.

3) Seller receives ‘the Change of registrant pending, Action needed’ email.

4) Seller can now accept the transfer in control panel.

5) Push complete.

Below is the email trail.

35 minutes for the first email to arrive and 18 minutes for the other steps to complete, took me a total of 53 minutes! Used to be like a fly, but not any more!
