AirBedandBombs, anyone?
A hotel and union-backed group fighting short term vacation rentals launched an outrageous ad campaign this week linking Airbnb rentals to terrorism.
Now Airbnb has made a bunch of defensive domain name registrations in response, which are in themselves outrageous.
These domain names were registered at brand domain name registrar MarkMonitor yesterday:
airbedandbombs.com
airbnbombs.com
airbnbterrorism.com
airbnbterrorist.com
airbombandbreakfast.com
terrorairbnb.com
terrorbnb.com
All of the domain names use Whois privacy, so it’s possible that another group registered the domains. However, Airbnb uses MarkMonitor for brand protection. The group behind the TV ads uses GoDaddy as its domain name registrar.
